Made of hand painted ceramic tiles, each tile in this piece represents one day out of a full year. The work can be read like a book: left to right and top to bottom. Each tile is color-coded to show the daily high and low temperatures, as measured by a single weather station in a specific location. After the tiles are mounted, smaller glass tiles are added on top to represent rainy days. This process is slow and contemplative in nature. The resulting image is not determined beforehand, but revealed through the process of creation.
This piece is one of my favorites of this series because of its fun, cheerful colors. Because Buenos Aires is located in the Southern Hemisphere, the pattern of cool weather to warm weather is reversed, leaving primarily blue tiles in the center, rather than the top and bottom.
